Winter Fun in the Berchtesgaden Region

Whether for dreamers, adventurers, those seeking relaxation, or ski pros, the Berchtesgadener Land region promises a wide variety of winter experiences. Barely 20 kilometers from Salzburg, in the heart of the Eastern Bavarian Alps, the Watzmann (2,713 m) towers over the region as its landmark.
The Berchtesgadener Land, with its four municipalities—Bischofswiesen, Marktschellenberg, Ramsau, and Schönau am Königssee—offers the complete winter package:

Opening hours

Daily from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
(Kitchen open until 8:00 p.m.; until 9:30 p.m. when floodlights are on)

Ski & Co

A paradise on the slopes for skiers and snowboarders, with a total of 50 km of runs spread across 5 ski areas. 84 km of groomed trails invite you to enjoy unlimited cross-country skiing through the stunning winter landscape. Afterward, the Watzmanntherme awaits with its spacious sauna area.

Winter hiking, sledding, curling

But you can also enjoy a winter vacation without skiing and the like: 120 km of cleared trails for winter hiking, curling on Lake Hintersee or at Aschauerweiher, ice skating at the ice rink in Berchtesgaden, or tobogganing on natural toboggan runs.

Or how about trying your hand at sledding like local Olympic champion Georg Hackl? No problem at the artificial ice track on Königssee. Equally popular are horse-drawn sleigh rides through the winter landscape or evening torchlight hikes followed by a stop at a mountain hut.

We look forward to welcoming you this winter at the Götschenalm Alpine Inn in Bischofswiese!
